What to Expect

Before Your Photo Session

When you first contact Vince Tarry Studios, they will inform you about the wide variety of services they offer and are available to answer any questions you may have. This can be done either on the telephone, or an appointment consultation can be scheduled at the San Carlos Portrait Studio or the El Dorado Hills home office location.

During this appointment they will:

• Show you samples of their work
• Listen to what you would like to accomplish with this portrait session
• Discuss locations and clothing options
• Schedule your portrait session

The Photo Session

Typically, a family portrait session will last about an hour. There are times when a child’s attention span is limited, so the photographers at VTS do everything they can do with the time that they have. During your session, the photographers will get photos of the entire family together as well as several combinations within the family. In addition to following their own guidelines during this session, the photographers at VTS are very happy to hear about, and incorporate, any requests and ideas that you may have.

VTS has a comfortable and professional studio location in San Carlos, (located on the Peninsula of the San Francisco Bay Area), where there are a wonderful variety of backdrops to photograph subjects on. However, after years of experience photographing families, VTS feels that the best location for children and families to be photographed is on location, outside, or in/at the subjects’ home. VTS conducts nearly all its family portraiture on location. Children are so much more comfortable in this environment and this makes for fantastic portraits.

Vince Tarry Studio has a relaxed style when working with families. The VTS photographers encourage kids to do what comes naturally…like jump, run, skip, laugh, hug and play. If you and your family are having fun, the pictures will show it. VTS will work with you to create some very natural feeling images. VTS wants you to walk away from this experience with a smile on your face and amazing portraits on your wall.

We also understand that the family pet is a very important member of many families. Please feel free to bring them along on your photo shoot.

The Best Time for your Photo Session

What is the best time of day photograph your family? VTS loves our California sunshine but nobody looks their best with bright sun in their eyes. VTS finds the light to be so much more pure and complimentary in the morning or early evening.

After your Photo Session

VTS will edit your session down to their top images (omitting images with closed eyes and such) from the portrait session and post these online as a slideshow for you to review. You can select your favorites online and then return to the studio to see them on our projection movie screen. This screen enables you to see a full-scale preview of your wall portraits.

VTS also offers an in-home photo presentation. This option works well when you want assistance in designing a photo gallery for your home.

VTS offers a variety of options to please individual wants, needs and tastes. Wall art is a specialty of Vince Tarry Studios. This includes a multitude of print sizes, canvas wrapping, a CD of images, an online preview, or even greeting cards for any occasion.
